Success Report
Date: 07/07/2025
Location: Diepsloot

Incident Summary:

During routine route checks on a client’s fleet, a controller identified a suspicious situation involving one of the client’s motorbikes, which appeared to be stationary at an unfamiliar and questionable location. Recognizing the irregularity, the controller promptly escalated the matter for further investigation.

Investigation and Findings:

The investigation team was activated and began assessing the situation. Initial attempts to contact the bike's driver were unsuccessful. Shortly afterward, the controller received a call stating that the driver was on the line, reporting that he had been hijacked on the evening of Saturday, 5th July.

The controller gathered all relevant information from the driver and passed it on to the investigation team, who were already analyzing the suspicious location of the bike.

Further probing revealed inconsistencies in the driver’s statement. It became apparent that the driver was potentially involved in the attempted theft of the bike. A response team was immediately dispatched to the bike’s location.

Upon arrival, the recovery team found the motorbike hidden in a locked room at a residence where other tenants confirmed the driver resided. The controller then contacted the driver, who claimed he was at the police station to report the alleged hijacking. However, moments later, the landlord informed the team that she had spoken to the driver, who admitted he was actually in Fourways and en route to the residence.

Upon his return, the driver was confronted by the SkeyeTech recovery team. During questioning, he confessed to fabricating the hijacking story. He admitted to renting the bike on Friday, 4th July, and taking it to a mechanic on Saturday, where the tracker was located and later removed near the driver residence in Diepsloot.
He then hid the bike and falsely reported it as hijacked with the intent to sell it for cash.

Current Status:

The driver has confessed to the attempted theft.

    The bike has been recovered.

The case is currently under further investigation.
